The Mornington Peninsula Shire City Council Animal Shelter project comprises a single-story complex with a veterinary area, animal isolation holding, and kennel areas.
RSP was engaged to design the project’s design and construction. This project includes an underfloor heating system for the animal kennels with a highly efficient heat pump water heater. An underfloor heating system ensures optimal conditions are maintained year-round with minimal energy usage required.
An access control system was integrated into the Animal Shelters design to ensure the safety of both animals and the public. RSP purposely future proofed the building with making provisions within the power network for further developments. The building is complete with rainwater harvesting and a smart solar system, reducing its energy input and associated carbon footprint. This was designed to council green star requirements to keep in line with the transition to a green future.
